Alpha Update 2.02


Hello Everyone!

Here is update 2.02! Next update on itch.io will be in a few weeks, but the 2.1 update is already available on Patreon.

his build is very focused on filling out the story in Fall and early Winter. There are about 25 new story events and the introduction to the 4th companion, Ailis. There's also a bunch of bug fixes and a few minor balance changes.

Ailis is in a pretty early state right now - she has about 10 events that introduce her and get her story going, but a lot of her mechanics still need to be implemented. The next update will focus on fleshing out the Forge and adding the new companion's skill tree as well as continuing the Winter story.

  • New SFX
  • Many New Events (~25)
  • New Companion, Ailis.
  • New Sex scene (Ailis).
  • Some new event art

Fixes

  • Some missing tooltips
  • Willow wasn't always getting affinity increases during hangouts
  • Telling stories was applying the wrong affinity increase
  • Various typos
  • Prospectors could show up too early
  • Heart Tree was triggering a false positive on finished project alerts
  • UI adjustment

The next update (2.1) includes a complete rework of the entire patrol / hunting / gathering system as well as a lot of fixes + balance adjustments.


Also, there are a lot of fixes in 2.1, I'm going to include the list of bugs already fixed in that build just in case you run across any of them:

2.1 Fixes

  • Could overspend on the mining expeditions
  • It was possible for the 2nd slot in Experimentation to come up blank
  • Merchants will show up again after winter.
  • Deedra dialog was the wrong color in prologue
  • The UI for visiting the mining camp indicated it took a time slot, this isn't the case
  • Even at 0 energy, you could still fool around with Scout and Ellie
  • Haste potion was showing incorrect prices unless you back out of the menu and re-entered it
  • Buying supplies from the guest menu had the incorrect costs during winter
  • Sometimes army guests would still show up if you closed the inn early
  • Feybloom, Fey Armor, and Fey Dagger growth progress wasn't saving correctly

what about the gallery?

A little while ago I made an option where you could pick what scene you saw any time one was initiated. But as previously mentioned, an actual gallery won't be implemented for a while, likely not until the end of the Alpha. There are a lot of scenes left to add, and the scenes themselves are still missing functionality. I'll likely add a gallery as part of the game's main menu when I rework that.

No, just the ability to pick scenes was added, and was planned to be added. Gallery will be at the end of the alpha.

Thanks for the update! The new events are fun. I liked seeing how Tarata was connected to the inn, and why the player character recognized him. All of the army events were great, which makes the fractured soldiers appearing in winter that much more ominous. I could see a fractured Tarata showing up as a boss later, as sad as that would be. I think my favorite interaction has to be asking Scout if she is joining the Army. The look on her face was hilarious. Ailis seems interesting and I'm excited to see where her story goes from here. I had her show up around 4 weeks or so in winter. What is the earliest she is available in winter?

Thanks for the bug list as well, it helps to know what has already been fixed.

I found one bug that softlocked my game. It only occurred when playing through choosing a cure for Ailis and then getting the reforged, Ailis cured, event the next day. The menu for daily actions disappeared after the reforged event. Reloading the day the reforged event takes causes the daily menu to not disappear. 

There was also one typo I encountered. When Tatara is talking to Lucy during the "on winter's doorstep" event, Lucy says "I don't want to accuse you to be unprepared for the ashlands..." which doesn't make much sense. Something like "I don't want to accuse you of being unprepared for the ashlands..." or "I don't want to accuse you, but you need to be prepared for the ashlands" would make more sense. 

The only other things I noticed are small inconsistencies with the events. The npcs mention how the inn is still being repaired even though I had finished all the upgrades for it already. It would be cool if they said something else if the inn was already fully repaired.

I played on a maxed army reputation file to see the events faster. I had the event of Tatara reminiscing about the player's grandfather, and the inn, before the event of Tatara talking to Ellie about Cienna. In the event with Ellie, the player can ask "Did you know my grandpa?" even though Tatara had already mentioned knowing of him previously.

I don't know if it is new event or not, but in the random patrol event with the wounded solider you don't get an option to cure him with battle heal, which would be a nice alternative to a health potion or fracturing Lucy. If it's only a self heal spell, then ignore this.

Anyways, thanks again for the update. The new patrol system looks awesome so I'm excited to see that when it becomes available here. Good luck on development and keep up the great work!

Thanks! Yeah I can make those events look at each other and give different dialog depending on the order you get them in. I was pushing pretty hard to get them all in one update, so now I can take some time to polish them. I'll jump on the typos too.

I'll check out the soft lock there, not sure exactly what caused it but I'll hunt it down.

Ailis can show up in winter after day 200. She's still go a lot of work left to do on her, so this may get adjusted.
